A mix of students, tourists and businesspeople to Europe has driven up the
demand for air-tickets there, with the shortages expected to ease only after the
weeklong National Day holiday, the Shanghai Morning Post reported.
All the
air-tickets from Shanghai to London this month have been sold out, and the
earliest that tickets will be available is on October 3, at the full price of
5,000 yuan (US$616), said a ticket-seller for China Eastern Airlines.
Not
only to London, air-tickets from Shanghai to such main European cities as Paris,
Frankfurt and Munich in September are hard to get, said a sales supervisor with
the Shanghai China Travel Service.
All the air-tickets to Europe have
currently reached their peak prices, with an economy-class ticket to London
surging from 3,000 yuan in April to 8,000 yuan, said an industry analyst, adding
that August and September are usually the peak season for study, travel and
business events.
Air tickets to the US and Canada are not so popular as to
Europe.
