Air crashes raise anxiety levels

The frequent air crashes and high casualties during the past month have caused many passengers to begin paying more attention to the situations of the planes they are going to take, writes the Oriental Morning Post.
Usually an air crash will have an impact on ticket sales afterwards. Many potential passengers choose big planes rather than smaller ones after inquiring about flight dates and fares.
Some frequent flyers even investigate the safety record and service record of a certain plane before they make travel decisions.
"The madness of concerns towards the safety situation of the plane by passengers are really out of our expectation, " said one official from the Marketing Department of one local air company. "Some ask "funny" questions such 'Does the plane provide parachutes?"
Zhu Zhoulong, director of the aviation security office from CAAC in eastern China region, clarified that the domestic airlines were safe; however, adequate prevention work was still vital.
Flight volumes of both landing and departing aircraft during peak hours in the two airports (Hongqiao and Pudong) are under strict control, " added Zhu Zhoulong. "The maximum at Hongqiao Airport is 30 per hour, and at Pudong International Airport, it is 40. "
