November 11 has been seen as being Single's Day in recent years in the
city.
In the name of this "festival", a local travel agent is now seeking
singles for its two-tour packages to Tonglu and Qiandaohu in Zhejiang Province,
reported today's Shanghai Morning Post.
Applicants should bring their ID
cards with them and fill-in the relevant forms, as the tour packages, to be more
exact, can be seen as match-making events for the singles, who have little
social contact in their daily lives.
The one-day dual-destination package is
for those aged 22 to 35, while another is available for those aged 33 to
45.
"In addition to routine sight-seeing, events like improvement exercises,
rock-climbing and camping at night have been added into the one-day package, so
as to create more opportunities for communication," explained Zhang Jianquan,
the deputy general manager of the travel agency concerned.
"As for the
two-day package, the senior members will be immersed into a relatively relaxed
atmosphere created by our well-arranged accommodation and foods," he
said.
Each tour group will have no more than 50 persons, half of them male
and half female.
Figures from the agent show that the gender ratio of
applicants so far is 10 males to every four females.
