The Shanghai Railway Bureau plans to run an extra 21 trains per day to satisfy demand during the peak period when students return to the city and begin their new semester, the Youth Post reported today.
The city currently operates over 230 trains per day, with 21 trains to be added to satisfy the growing demand. Other measures include offering ticket outlets and lounges specifically for students and extending the ticket presale period for them.
During the peak period, students will get top priority to enter the railway station, buy tickets, check luggage, and board, with special staff assigned to help students handle such procedures. In order to guarantee that every student will have a seat on the train, Shanghai and Hangzhou railway stations will prolong the ticket presale period to 11 days.
