Locals who want to travel to Lhasa by train can realize their dream as the first train is scheduled to operate on October 1, according to the Shanghai Railway Bureau.
Approved by the Ministry of Railways, express trains from Shanghai to Lhasa will operate every other day, with those from Lhasa to Shanghai starting on October 4.
From March, the train service staff has received training on topics such as religion policies and service techniques to provide a unique service on the train.
Special security equipment has been installed on the 25T new-type train which serves the itinerary, with emergency-response plans in place.
