Travel boom expected for National Day

The tourism market is expected to flourish during the week-long
National Day holiday, with 74.3 percent of survey respondents planning to go
traveling, according to a survey by www.ctrip.com of more than 3,000 people via
Internet, the Youth Post reported today.
According to the survey, 74.3
percent of respondents will definitely go traveling during the National Day
holiday, 56.1 percent will spend more days traveling than the previous
golden-week holidays and 22 percent are still considering whether to travel or
not, with only 3.1 percent of interviewees definitely not
traveling.
Eighty-six percent of interviewees think the travel market
during this year's National Day holiday will be stronger than previous years,
with 42 percent considering that it will be the strongest of all the golden-week
holidays, according to the survey.
Many people who had planned to go
traveling during the May Day holiday canceled their trips due to the SARS
outbreak, so they are likely to travel during the National Day holiday now that
SARS fears are receding, said a survey analyst.
Shanghai's travel
agencies are currently receiving many phone inquiries per day, with the number
of visiting customers on the rise, according to several local travel
agencies.
Thirty or forty out-of-city tours offered by the Shanghai
Sightseeing Bus Center have become the focus of local residents, with many
asking when these itineraries can be reopened, according to the bus
center.
Hainan and Yunnan Province are proving popular among domestic
travelers, with Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand hot among overseas
destinations.
