Overall price hikes expected on domestic tours

Starting August 24, overall price increases are expected on domestic
package tours by air due to several air-carriers' price alliance formed last
weekend, the Shanghai Morning Post reported today.
Package tours to Beijing,
Hainan and Dali of Yunnan Province with round-trip by air will have price
increases ranging from 60 yuan to 100 yuan (US$7-US$12) starting August 24.
Individual tourists will be the biggest victims of the price alliance this
time, with group travelers not affected much, according to a local
air-carrier.
The price alliance has covered Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou,
Chonqing, Chengdu, Xi'an, Fuzhou and Xiamen, with the prices of popular
itineraries such as Beijing and Yunnan Province having the largest increase.
The comparatively small price increase will not affect Shanghaiese' travel
plan, an industry analyst predicted.
