China to have 20 more tourism destinations

More than 20 countries and areas are currently applying to become
China's tourism destinations, said Zhang Xiqin, vice chief with the National
Tourism Administration at the 15th plenary conference of the World Tourism
Organization yesterday, the Beijing Morning Post reported today. The number
of Chinese tourists abroad is growing rapidly, and more than 20 countries and
areas are expecting to become Chinese citizens' travel destinations as soon as
possible." Zhang said. "The Chinese government will play an active role in
approving more travel destinations for Chinese tourists," Zhang said. Chinese
citizens will be allowed to travel to 28 countries and areas by November 1 this
year, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Australia, New
Zealand, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Nepal, Indonesia,
Brunei, Egypt, Turkey, Malta, Germany, Sri Lanka, Maldives, India, South Africa,
Croatia, Hungary, Pakistan, Cuba, Chinese Hong Kong Special Administrative
Region (SAR) and Macau SAR.
