Skiing in Switzerland not a dream
24/11/2003 17:02

Since Switzerland is open to Chinese citizens, going skiing there might no longer be a castle in the air.
Switzerland has become a new travel destination for Chinese people after the National Tourism Administration signed tourism memos with 12 EU countries at the end of October.
The timetable for organizing package tours to Switzerland might be earlier than that for an EU tour, said an industry analyst with a travel agency in Shanghai.
The seven-day tour to Switzerland is expected to cost 11,800 yuan (US$1,421), higher than that for the German tour, due to the high consumer prices there, the analyst said.
It is unlikely to organize an individual tour to Switzerland, which is expected to be included in a multi-tour package, he added.
The surges in euro exchange rates have driven up the charges for European tours, with the cost for German tours expected to increase by at least five percent during the Spring Festival holiday, said a spokesman with a local travel agency
If the tour to Switzerland can be ready for the Spring Festival vacation, the charges might also rise, the spokesman added.
In a bid to tap the Shanghai tourism market, in March, the Swiss International Air Lines added two scheduled flights a week from Shanghai to Switzerland via Beijing and offered many preferential policies for local travelers.
