The city's neighboring towns attracted a growing number of tourists at
the New Year's Day, with the Shanghai Sightseeing Bus Center receiving 8,000
travelers yesterday, the Shanghai Evening Post reported today. The Shanghai
Sightseeing Bus Center added 50 buses yesterday to meet the growing
demand. Several new travel itineraries have gained much popularity, such as
Jingxi, Wuzhen Fuyan Temple and Tongli Jingsi Garden, with tourists in the
itineraries accounting for 15 percent of the total travelers. Short-distance
travel itineraries were also proving very popular yesterday, including
Zhouzhuang, Wuzhen, Luzhi, Nanxun and Suzhou. "Our center has joined hands
with many scenic spots, so we often provide preferential policies on travel
itineraries, especially during holidays," said Yao, director with the Shanghai
Sightseeing Bus Center.
