City sets tourism target this year

Shanghai sets its economic target for local tourism industry this
year, with a total of 3.5 million overseas tourists expected to visit the city
and tourism Forex revenues expected to hit US$2.6 billion this year, according
to the Shanghai Tourism Administrative Commission, the Shanghai Morning Post
reported today. The commission set the target in a bid to boost the local
tourism market. According to the target, 3.5 million overseas travelers are
expected to come to Shanghai this year, with three million to stay in the city
for more than one day, and a total of 95 million domestic travelers are
predicted to arrive in the city, with domestic tourism revenues expected to top
110 billion yuan. The total tourism revenues are expected to hit 130 billion
yuan this year, with tourism industry added values accounting for 6.3 percent of
local GDP. Several tourism exhibitions will be held in Shanghai to improve
the standard of local travel market.
