Holiday tours to HK cost more in May
7/4/2004 17:32

In the coming May Day holiday, prices of tours to Hong Kong and Macau will increase by nearly 1,000 yuan (US$120) over the prices of the past two months, the Youth Post reported today.
Last weekend, local travel agencies offered their schedules and price lists for package tours to Hong Kong and Macau in the coming May Day holiday.
Compared with around 1,000 yuan in tour prices to Hong Kong as special offers in February and March, the prices by May will increase by nearly 1,000 yuan.
With Hong Kong expected to enter its peak period for exhibitions as of April 10, local hotel prices will soar, with most hotels already booked up, said an industry analyst.
Tour prices on May 1 and 2 will be the highest in the weeklong holiday, ranging from 2,700 to 3,300 yuan, the analyst said.
As most tourists are price sensitive, tours to Hong Kong and Macau were proving very popular over the past two months, with several hundred travelers going back and forth between Shanghai and Hong Kong every day, especially at weekends, according to spokesmen for local travel agencies, adding that simplified procedures had made Hong Kong a good destination for locals to spend their weekends.
