14/4/2004 17:34
To enhance exchanges between youngsters in Japan and other Asian
countries, as of April Chinese elementary and middle school students taking part
in cultural exchanges in Japan will receive free visas, according to the
Japanese general consulate in Shanghai yesterday. The policy aims to increase
the exchanges of youngsters between Japan and other Asian countries, said an
industry analyst, in order to enhance understanding, exchanges and studies
between schools.
According to the Japanese general consulate, Chinese
students of elementary, junior middle, and high schools, and teachers who lead
their students to study or travel in Japan, will not need to pay visa
commissions.
Applicants must submit their relevant documents for these
short-term cultural exchanges, the students'school certificates and teachers
records of teaching service and their application reports to the Japanese consul
general. Other visa procedures for Japan will be handled as normal, including
visa interviews.
