City to broadcast holiday tourism information
14/4/2004 17:34

With tourism information now being made available, travelers in Shanghai during the upcoming May Day holiday can have advanced information and avoid the crowds, the Shanghai Morning Post reported today.
For the first time, Shanghai will broadcast tourism information during the weeklong May Day holiday, including figures for sales of railway and air tickets, occupancy rates of trains and planes, and traffic at tourist destinations, according to the Shanghai Tourism Administrative Commission yesterday.
Initially the information will be released for tourist destinations such as the Oriental Pearl Broadcasting and Television Tower and the Oriental Green Boat Park.
The Oriental Pearl Broadcasting and Television Tower will use TV monitors and bulletins at the ticket booths and elevators to provide tourism information. Many favorite tourist spots will also use a system to control passenger flows, such as limiting ticket sales on the basis of the availability.
The information will also include possible natural disasters, epidemics and other dangers likely to threaten personal and property safety, according to the commission.
