Airlines increase European connections
10/6/2004 17:38

As of this month, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has increased its scheduled number of flights from Shanghai to Amsterdam from four per week to daily, with more preferential policies offered, the Shanghai Morning Post reported today.
The new Boeing 777-200ER aircrafts, with more seats and comfortable cabins, are being used in some Shanghai to Amsterdam flights. From now to June 27, round-trip airfares between Amsterdam and Shanghai or Beijing are only 6,888 yuan (US$830).
In order to attract more high-end tourists to Europe, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has offered self-organized tours in China.

China Southern Airlines has also stepped up service to Amsterdam. At the end of last month, China Southern Airlines announced that three scheduled flights a week will begin between Shanghai and Amsterdam as of June 28, with preferential round-trip airfares of 4,800 yuan.
"We are targeting tourists from Wenzhou, as there are usually almost 130,000 Wenzhou people in the Netherlands," said a spokesman with the China Southern Airlines.
The peak tourist period for Europe usually falls between July and October every year, so a growing number of Chinese people are expected to travel to Europe by July, an industry analyst predicted.
