More overseas summer tours expected
16/6/2004 17:39

Local travel agencies are gearing up for the summer vacation by offering various itineraries with different themes, the Shanghai Evening Post reported today.
The Hong Kong tour on the luxury liner SuperStar Gemini is only 1,860 yuan for the summer vocation from July to August, almost half the 3,300 yuan charged during the Labor Day holiday. As the scheduled voyages for luxury liners are expected soon, they have made the prices more affordable to the public, said an industry analyst.
The Shanghai China Travel Service has offered a nine-day tour to Australia specifically for local parents to visit their children studying there. After the parents arrive in Sydney, their children can join the tour and they can visit Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney together.
The Shanghai China Youth Travel Service Tour Corporation has offered various package tours for local students aged between 8 and 18 to study and travel overseas. On the 18-day tour to Australia, priced at 22,550 yuan, students can have English classes in the morning and go sightseeing in the afternoon, and they can live with local families to improve their spoken English.
A 24-hour Chinese-language telephone service will be launched for the first time to help students in trouble, according to the Shanghai CYTS Tour Corporation.
"Although the prices are too high, it is worth it to let my child acquire more knowledge abroad," said a parent who signed up his child for the Australian tour.
