The Japan National
Tourism Organization and China's travel agencies have introduced six high-end
Japan-bound package tours to overcome the inconsistencies in the quality of
exsisting tour packages, the Eastday.com reported. For example, a seven-day
tour organized by China Travel Service is priced at 11,500 yuan (US$1,391) and a
luxury five-day package jointly offered with China Merchants International
Travel Co Ltd is priced at 8,200 yuan. The new packages, which are all
expensive and priced around 10,000 yuan, will put an end to the disordered Japan
tour market where domestic travel agencies have often had to axe prices to as
low as 7,000 yuan to attract more travelers, a JNTO official quoted by the
Eastday.com report said. The official assured travelers that service on the
newly published tours will be worth every penny they pay. "Four-star and
above hotels are included in these tours as well as such activities in Japan as
a visit to the Tokyo Disney Resort theme park and a ride on the Shinkansen
bullet train", he said. On the contrary, cheap tours can't offer such a
pleasant stay in Japan, because there low price is at the expense of service
quality, he pointed out. "Travelers on budget tours only visit ticket-free
spots and have to pay additional charges if they want to visit places where
tickets are required," he said. "As well, accommodations are usually in suburban
areas, so travelers must spend lots of time traveling by bus between the scenic
spots," he added.
