The price of a ticket to Mt. Huangshan, or Yellow Mountain, will probably
climb by over 50 percent, as operators of the world-known picturesque resort in
East China's Anhui Province are seeking price increases at the latest public
pricing hearing, today's www.sina.com.cn
reported.
Operators are asking that a ticket in busy season be increased from
the current 130 yuan (US$16) to 200 yuan, up 54 percent, the report said, citing
sources close to the hearing.
Their proposal for the price in low season,
which is now 85 yuan, was not disclosed.
Industry insiders are split over the
move to increase prices.
While some say a price rise is natural to cover
ever-growing operational costs, others worry the price hike may dampen the
interest of tourists and hurt the local tourism industry.
