Okay Airways Co, China mainland's first private air carrier, will launch its
inaugural flight from Tianjin to Changsha on Friday, today's Eastday.com
reported.
It will use Boeing 737-900 airplanes subleased from Korean Airlines
on this route and its flight code will be BK.
The airfare for an economic
class seat will reportedly be offered at 1,180 yuan (US$143), the same with the
charge by Hainan Airlines, the other only existing carrier on this route.
If so, industry insiders say it will make no advantage for Okay in
price.
Okay officials declined yesterday to confirm the price
report.
Okay received its business license for passenger service last Friday
from China Administration of Aviation, making it the country's first private
carrier.
Based at Tianjin Binhai International Airport, Okay has a registered
capital of 300 million yuan.
Its initial passenger service will include
routes such as Tianjin to Kunming, Changsha, Zhang Jiajie, Guilin, Hohhot,
Taiyuan, and Harbin.
China last year approved three private carriers - Okay,
Eagle United Airlines and Spring Airlines.
