Air passengers in Shanghai can now buy air insurance policies at more than
400 local post offices, another result of the insurance industry's sales channel
expansion campaign this year, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.
The Tai
Pin Insurance Co Ltd introduced the new sales network for air insurance
yesterday, following its previous launch of another sales platform on mobile
phones.
The new sales network, easier for buyers to access, is cheaper and
more efficient than the traditional air insurance sales outlets at airports and
travel agencies, according to a Tai Pin Insurance official as quoted in the
Shanghai Morning Post report.
"Transport accident insurance policies are sold
at lower prices at post offices because the commissions charged by post offices
are lower," he noted.
In fact, it's not the first time for insurers to use
post offices to expand their sales networks.
Earlier this year, PICC Life Co
Ltd used post offices to sell its insurance post cards on a trial basis and
China Pacific Life Insurance (Group) Co Ltd has sold a domestic helper insurance
policy and a dividend-sharing insurance policy through the postal network.
