Scholar, the 24-hour bookstore which was forced to close due to extremely high lease rates at its 1271 Pudong Rd. (South) location, might re-open on cheaper land, the Oriental Morning Post reported today.
He Genxiang, general manager of Scholar Books Company Ltd, revealed during an interview that they had contacted the administrations of the Foxtown and the metro station at Zhangjiang, expressing interest in renting shops for round-the-clock bookstores.
"If it is a deal, the new bookstore in the Foxtown would cover 700 square meters, while the one in the Zhangjiang metro station would be a community bookstore cooperating with the future online book business of our company," He explained. "We are looking forward to their responses now."
