Shanghai will become a meeting place for famous brands from both home and
abroad by 2010, with Huangpu, Luwan and Jing'an Districts expected to become
three central business zones for global top-name brands, today's Laodong Daily
reported.
According to the city's plan, by 2010, Shanghai will be home to 50
global top-ranking flagship specialty stores and 100 global first-line
brands.
Huangpu, Luwan and Jing'an Districts, with such advantages as solid
commercial foundations, excellent historic and cultural heritages and geographic
superiority, are vying for global top-name brands.
The Huangpu District
government has initiated the Bund project, with a Giorgio Armani flagship store
opening in the No.3 building of the Bund, and Ermenegildo Zegna and Cartier
flagship stores in the No.18 building of the Bund.
As well as the local
leisure hub Xintiandi, the Sinan Road area is expected to be transformed into a
gathering place of global name brands, according to the Luwan District
government.
The Jing'an District government has started the construction of
another high-end business circle, in addition to its original golden-triangle
circle on Nanjing Road W.
