Gourmets who want to taste both Chinese and foreign food can do so without
travelling the world by going to Shanghai, a mecca for food-lovers.
The
Shanghai catering industry recorded 3.321 billion yuan (US$400 million) in
business revenues last month, an increase of 32.8 percent year-on-year, today's
Laodong Daily reported.
Shanghai boasts of 16 regional varieties of Chinese
cuisine and many exotic restaurants. Western restaurants in Shanghai are mainly
located in the Hongqiao area, Shuicheng Road, Xianxia Road and Yan'an Road West
in the Gubei new area.
Shanghai restaurants target consumers at all budget
levels, from luxury restaurants around Nanjing Road West to the many and various
low-end outlets on nearby Wujiang Road.
