Companies applying for "Famous Brand of Shanghai" status this year must have
productions valued at least 150 million yuan (US$18 million), with market
share being another important factor, eastday.com reported today.
Since
Shanghai adopted its "Famous Brand" strategy in 1995, the number of products
awarded the honor has increased from 152 to 422. Sales revenues of these
products have grown in excess of 460 billion yuan, and those of famous-brand
companies now account for more than 40 percent of local industrial sales
revenues.
The brands have registered a combined intangible asset value of
more than 110 billion yuan to date, an average value of more than 260 million
yuan, more than triple that of 1995.
