Fast living has taken many white-collar workers to restaurants, with dining
costs accounting for most of their expenditures, today's Oriental Morning Post

According to the latest survey of a group of residents aged 31, 84
percent who earn above 6,000 yuan (US$740), spending on restaurant - dining
accounts for 61 percent of a white-collar worker's monthly expenditures. Among
them, 31 percent eat out at least once a week; 33 percent at least three times a
week; and 36 percent have meals outside over five times a week.
Among the
other expenses, spending at entertainment places such as bars accounts for 10
percent of their monthly income; health-care & beauty parlors (9 percent);
shopping (8 percent); public utility costs (7 percent) and only 5 percent is
spent on studies.
