Joyo launches promotion

Billed as China's largest online retailer of books, music and videos,
Joyo.com Limited has begun its first promotion after its acquisition by American
online bookstore Amazon.com two months ago. During the promotion, also the
largest in Joyo's history, the dotcom company is giving shoppers 600 gifts each
day. The promotion indicates Amazon's full confidence in the Chinese market,
analysts pointed out, while attention industry-wide has been on the American
company's actions after its entry into China. In September, Amazon acquired
Joyo for US$75 million to make its debut in China. Officials have not
denied the media report that Joyo will be renamed Amazon China, the
Nanfang Daily said.
