The rising costs of plastics and steels(two key raw materials in toy production) may drive local toy prices up by 30 percent, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.
"So far, plastic and steel prices have jumped by 80 percent and 60 percent respectively. Therefore, local prices of toys, especially those newly developed ones, will increase by 30 percent," said Xu Quanning, Secretary General of Shanghai Toy Industry Association. However, big price hike is unlikely for products already on the market, according to Xu.
