More than 2,000 catering companies under the Shanghai Catering Trade
Association reported full bookings of 'Nianyefan', a family-gathering dinner on
the lunar New Year's Eve, today's Laodong Daily reported.
Nianyefan, with the
first round beginning at about 5:30 and second around 8:00 is both booked up in
75 local famous restaurants.
According to statistics, nearly one-tenth of
Shanghai residents will have Nianyefan at restaurants.
However, Duan Fugen,
secretary-general of the association, is not excited with the booming business.
Except for some famous restaurants, most of the others have difficulties in
arranging two rounds of dinner at one night, Duan said.
Restaurants should
be sure to provide quality food, he stressed.
Over the past years, there were
a growing number of complaints on Nianyefan and in a bid to protect their own
rights in case of disputes, customers are suggested to select famous food
companies and make detailed bookings of every dish, Duan pointed
out.
