Price cuts on Changhong high-end TVs

Shanghai Guomei Electronics Appliances Co Ltd announced two days ago a
price cut on Changhong rear-projection TV models, with the 51-inch fine-pitch
model dropping to under 10,000 yuan (US$1,200), the Youth Post reported
today.
Only Guomei cut prices on the Changhong high-end rear-projection
TV this time, with an average cut of 15 percent, said Wang Huiwen, director of
the procurement department of Shanghai Guomei Electronics Appliances Co
Ltd.
The Changhong rear-projection DP5188A was cut to 9,999 yuan and the
DP4389 to 8,888 yuan.
Changhong large-screen pure-flat color TVs were
also affected by the price cuts, with 29-inch pure-flat models cut to under
2,000 yuan.
May is usually a peak sales period for color TVs and
Changhong's price cuts are a bid to claim more of the market, said an industry
analyst.
