Sichuan Changhong and Konka Group, two of the leading domestic TV
manufacturers have ranked No.1 of the domestic rear-projection and
liquid-crystal TV markets for two consecutive months, the first time for
domestic TV brands to play a leading role in the high-end TV market, eastday.com
reported today. According to statistics, Changhong claimed 18.41 percent of
the rear-projection TV market in April this year, ranking on the top of the
market, with its 48-inch and 43-inch rear-projection TVs claiming 32 percent and
15 percent of the market respectively, topping the list in the
market. Changhong continued to lead the market in May by selling 4,000
rear-projection TVs and claiming 17.4 percent of the rear-projection market,
followed by LG and Toshiba, the statistics indicated. According to the Sino
Market Research Company Ltd, Konka claimed 31.53 percent of the liquid-crystal
TV market in April this year, with sales exceeding those of Sharp and LG, the
first time for domestic brand to place No.1 in the liquid-crystal market.
Konka's market shares in liquid-crystal TV market increased to 43.7 percent
in May, far exceeding other peers. Domestic brands' growing presence in the
high-end TV market will give them more confidence to compete with Japanese and
South Korean TV makers, said an industry analyst.
