With more up-market models unveiled, prices of medium-ranged imported digital
video cameras have dropped this month, today's Shanghai Morning Post
reported.
At a booth in Shanghai Pacific Digital Plaza, a leading digital
product bazaar in the city, a Sony 1-million-pixel DV product, which sold for
6,580 yuan (US$796) last month, now carries a price of 5,850 yuan.
"The price
drop is a must for the old models, because Sony is promoting two new products
with 3 million pixels", said the booth's owner, who is not specified in the
Shanghai Morning Post report.
Most other imported old DV models also have
their prices cut by about 300 yuan, he added.
However, local brands remain
stable in the flurry of price drops.
"Prices of domestically produced DVs are
already lower than imported products and therefore, there's not much room for
discounts," the owner explained.
