Manufacturers of foreign-brand digital cameras have cut prices to boost the
sales in the coming Christmas rush, triggering a new round of price competition
in Shanghai's electronic product market, today's Hexun.com reported.
For
example, Nikon D70 camera is chopped by 40 percent to 6,800 yuan (US$822) from
11,250 yuan, a price when it first hit the market.
Another Olympus product
has plunged from 4,000 yuan to the current 2,999 yuan, and a 10x optical zoom
Kodak camera has jumped from 4,000 yuan to short of 3,000 yuan.
With the
annual year-end shopping season drawing near, the manufacturers are likely to
offer further cuts to attract buyers, industry insiders analyzed.
