As of September this year, the hospitalization fund for youth will cover all
the city's young people, including the city's thousands of disabled youngsters
who haven't yet entered school, the Shanghai Red Cross Society reported
yesterday.
By the end of August last year, a total of 410 million yuan (US$49
million) in medical costs had been appropriated from the fund for more than
558,000 sick children. Since last September, the offspring of migrant workers
meeting certain requirements have been included in the fund.
Yesterday,
nearly 70,000 local high school graduates received souvenir fund cards from the
fund office.
