Shanghai's health
and media authorities together launched an annual health campaign from today to
boost citizens' knowledge of health matters and the improvement of the public
environment. The theme of this year's event, the 16th health education week
to be held in Shanghai, is the prevention of bird flu and influenza. The
focus will fall on wet markets where live poultry are traded. People involved in
the trade will be given instruction on anti bird flu procedures and skills, the
authorities said. At schools, students will be required to do morning
exercises and classroom windows will need to be opened frequently for airing
purposes. Students will be instructed that dead or unfresh poultry as well as
unboiled eggs must not be eaten.
