Shanghai will be able to finish a single case of food or drug tests within 48 hours with the new Shanghai Food and Drug Test Center and Shanghai Food and Drug Packaging Material Control Center, which were unveiled yesterday.
These facilities will put Shanghai in a leading position over Asia for food and drug testing, expanding the scope of tests from pharmaceuticals to produce, Chen Longdi, vice Party secretary with Shanghai Food and Drug Test Center said.
The center conducted over 20,000 tests on imported drugs last year, accounting for one-third of the nation's total, according to Chen.
