Shanghai remains safe, highly vigilant

The Shanghai government and its health authority keep high vigilance
over the new suspected SARS cases in Guangdong, yet the city is safe as all
disease control and preventive measures are in effect, the government
spokeswoman Jiao Yang said on a news briefing Thursday.
The SARS control
and prevention measures haven¡¯t been relax after the disease is under control in
the spring of 2003, and the three-level disease reporting and supervision
network that covers is still at work, Jiao told reporters.
Recently, the
city¡¯s health bureau carried out an overall inspection on the medical organs in
the 19 districts and counties of Shanghai. The result shows that all the 551
medical institutes around the city are well prepared for emergent situations,
Jiao said.
The medical organs and workforce in these hospitals keep
standby for prevention and treatment. Most hospitals keep exclusive records on
patients with infectious disease.
