New drugstores should operate 24 hours

From April 1 this year, the newly-launched drug retailers must
guarantee 24-hour supplies of their drugs for the convenience of local
residents, according to the latest regulation on drug management licenses,
eastday.com reported yesterday. New drugstores must be capable of satisfying
the demand of local consumers and make sure operating business for 24-hours a
day, according to the Shanghai Drug Administration Bureau yesterday. The new
regulation, effective on April 1 this year, is aimed to protect the benefits of
local citizens and offer convenience for them to purchase drugs, said the
spokesman with the Shanghai Drug Administration Bureau. To date, 110 local
drugstores included in the city's medical insurance system are offering 24-hour
services.
