Plastic surgery on youngsters warned

A primary school girl, 11-year-old, wanted to make the tip to get a
nose job, but was rejected by the hospital. Like the girl, a growing number
of youngsters in Shanghai, especially aged below 18, are not satisfied with
their appearances and seek plastic surgeries to improve their looks, such as
having their noses worked on and eyelids restructured. Many parents are
taking it for granted that if their children receive such operations when they
are young, they can recover faster and better than elderly ones, so they obey
their children and take them to hospitals, said an industry analyst.
Although plastic surgeries can apply to people in all ages, the children
younger than 18 years old are still in their growth period, with immature
organs, so they shouldn't receive such operations unless they are deformed after
birth, said Prof. Wu Jianming with the Changzheng Hospital.
