City bans drugs
27/2/2004 18:22

Yesterday, the National Narcotics Control Commission of China, at a domestic videoconference, summarized last year's ban on the drug trade and worked out this year's plan.
Wu Zhiming, Director General of Shanghai Public Security Bureau attended the Shanghai sub-conference.
The ban on drugs has had a good beginning and has made certain achievements, Wu said. However, the situation is still full of grim possibilities, he stressed.
"We should continue to crack down on the drug trade in the light of the new crime trends, focusing on curbing the drug supply channels to prevent new drug addicts," Wu pointed out.
Shanghai will also establish a long-term management system for local drug addicts, and enhance the ban on drug trades by the help of social communities and workers, he added.
