The Shanghai government yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding
with the British Department of Health, specifying advanced exchanges and
cooperation between the two sides on health and medical issues.
Shanghai
Vice Mayor Yang Xiaodu and Lord Warner of the British Department of Health each
signed the memorandum on behalf of their governments.
A variety of
programs are involved in the memorandum: state and private cooperation in health
and the medical field; joint-funded or joint-run medical institutes; training
for general practitioners; post-graduate education and training for medical
staff; and a teaching program for British physicians on Chinese traditional
medicine.
