Health promotion committees have been formed with three office buildings in downtown Jing'an District, constituting of office workers, property managers of the buildings and managers of the buildings' enterprise tenants, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.
The buildings are among the first five in the district to pilot an office health program, which is planned to cover 200 office buildings in the district next year.
While making regular environment checks to the offices and reporting the results to the property managers to improve the environment, the committees will organize sports and health activities to improve the health of office workers.
According to Shi Lierong, Jing'an's health official, most office workers are in the sub-health status.
In a latest survey by the district's health authority on 1,000 employees working in the district's five office buildings, more than 80 percent usually complain headache, dizziness and difficulty to concentrate when stepping into their offices.
In addition to the poor ventilation conditions of the closed offices and the strong radiation from computers and other electric appliances, a sedentary life style is blamed for the deteriorating health status.
