Han announces public health center

On November 16, Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng announced the official opening of
the Shanghai Public Health Center, dubbed the municipality's No. 1
infrastructure project for this year. The center will play a crucial role in
improving the city's security system, emergency responses and research
capabilities in public health. Before the inauguration ceremony, Han and
other city leaders paid a visit to the center and inspected its operation
progress. Vice Mayor Yang Xiaodu, who is in charge of the city's health
sector, hosted the inauguration ceremony. At the ceremony, vice Party
Secretary Yin Yicui encouraged the center, with its first class equipment,
personnel and management, to become a public health institute that matches
Shanghai's status as an international metropolis. The center, located
in Shanyang town, Jinshan District, in Shanghai's southern area, has a
total construction space of 89,000 square meters and a capacity for 500 beds and
an additional 600 temporary beds in case of public emergencies. It is
equipped with world-class advanced facilities, and is surrounded by a beautiful
landscape, which is believed beneficial for patients'
recovery.
