The 2005 agenda issued by the Shanghai Public Health Bureau on January 8 indicates further investment in the cooperation medical treatment funds for rural areas and a more perfect service system for farmers' health care.
This year, the allowance extended to farmers who participate in the cooperation medical treatment was increased to 30 yuan (US$ 3.6) per person.  To ensure 100% participation, governments, along with the social funds, will help out those who are too poor to take part in this system.
Also, the Health Bureau will enhance works in the following segments:
* medical experts teams will be sent regularily to the rural areas;
* 400,000 yuan will be used for the renovation of 10 town clinics in 5 rural districts, such as Minhang, Nanhui, Fengxian, Qingpu and Chongming;
* more town clinics will become friendly partners with the city-level hospitals.
