Despite the warm market reaction to its jewelry design graduates, the
Shanghai Institute of Technology will no longer offer
this major, today's Youth Daily reported.
All 18 of this year's graduates
have found jobs, the highest job-success rate among the school's design majors,
according to
SIT official Zhu Guoqin.
While explaining for the decision, Zhu described
it as result of SIT's new education strategy of encouraging students to
take more than two majors.
"Graduates taking an additional major, such as
airplane design, along with the jewel design program, will be more
competitive on the job market and will find work easier," he said.
