Fudan: a symbol of Shanghai

Fudan University
has prestige in Shanghai; the university is the city's name card, according to a
joint survey conducted by the Oriental Morning Post and Market-Expert (Shanghai)
Consultant Corporation on the relationship between Fudan and Shanghai. Fudan,
holding its centenary celebrations, has made a good impression on more than 90
percent of interviewees, including managers, technicians, private owners and
retirees, and all of them consider the university a symbol of Shanghai. Sixty
percent of respondents said they would encourage their children to apply to
Fudan University in the future. Replying to the question of the greatest
influence Fudan has had on Shanghai, 21 percent said scientific research; other
responses included human resources (30 percent), and cultural development (20
percent). Nearly 20 percent of respondents expect Fudan to become a human
resources base for Shanghai and 20 percent expect it to become the city's engine
of innovations. More than 80 percent of Fudan students chose Shanghai as
their top work destination after graduation. The employment situation,
government policies, the local economic development situation and culture
development were listed as the main factors to affect Fudan University,
according to the survey.
