The University of Oxford is keen on recruiting the world's top students so it sets high thresholds for its applicants, said President John Hood of the University of Oxford while attending the University Presidents Forum at Fudan University this morning.
"For students, especially international students, we are focusing on not only their existing performances, but their potential for future development as well," President Hood stressed, adding that applicants must first pass international English tests such as IELTS.
"Thirty-five percent of our undergraduates and graduates are from other countries, and among them, 230 graduates and 120 undergraduates hail from China. Chinese students are performing well at Oxford," Hood said.
President Hood also said that at Oxford, diverse thought and research are welcomed, and qualified students are able to get scholarships.
