A school dedicated for children of Chinese professionals and students
returning from overseas opened yesterday, the first day of the new autumn
semester at all local primary and secondary schools, today's Eastday.com
reported. The school, jointly launched by the city's personnel bureau and
Jing'an district government, is part of the city's efforts to attract returned
professionals to improve its human resources base. The school has its
classrooms in the Jing'an branch of the Shanghai International Study
University. In a bid to improve its human resources base, Shanghai announced
its latest scheme to attract returned talents at a press conference last Sunday,
offering 10,000 positions in technology and management for these people. The
city has become a top choice for returned professionals, attracting 32,000 such
talents by the end of last year. Amid the rising number of returned talents,
the schooling problem of these people's children has emerged. To better the
schooling condition here, the city government plans to launch exclusive schools
and classes for these children. The school opened yesterday is the first one
of these exclusive schools. Offering a grade one and a grade six class of
primary school, the Jing'an school will provide bilingual education in both
Chinese and English. Graduates of the school can either pursue higher education
in domestic schools or continue their study abroad.
