Russian training attracts local elderly

With a reminiscent mood, many senior citizens have attended Russian language trainings in Shanghai, who have studied Russian courses instead of English during their childhood, the Youth Post reported today.
The 70 mid and elderly people, aged between more than 40 and 60-plus, decided to attend the Russian language courses. "I forgot nearly all the Russian I have learned in middle school, so when I heard such training is currently available, I feel quite excited," said an elderly woman aged 68.
"We have learned Russian in the 1960s, and have no chance to use it, so we want to have opportunities to review it and communicate with others in Russian," according to some local elderly.
"Previously we had no plans to offer such training courses only for reminiscence purpose, but after market surveys, we found someone learning foreign language to gain job titles, some to do business abroad and someone only want to have opportunities to review the languages they have learned before," said a spokesman with a local training institute, which recruited the 70 elderly students.
These students are eager to learn Russia, reviewing basic wording, watching Russian movies, singing songs, and they plan to organize a Russian glee club in the near future, the spokesman said.
