Suburban families keen on education

Education expenses have become the main consumption of residents in the Chinese suburban areas, with more than 40 percent of suburban families predicted to spend revenues on their offspring's education, according to a survey by the China Consumers Association of consumption in suburban area.
The survey was conducted to 13 Chinese cities and provinces, including Hebei Province, Jilin Province, Zhejiang Province, Anhui Province, Fujian Province, Jiangxi Province, Shandong Province, Chongqing, Guizhou Province, Shannxi Province, Qingdao, Xiamen and Chengdu.
According to the survey, more than 40 percent of suburban families plan to spend their revenues funding their offspring's schooling, 19 percent will invest in agricultural production material, 16 percent will spend their revenues in building or decorating their housing, while only 0.9 percent of families will spend revenues in traveling.
Buying insurance has become the new consumption focus for suburban families, with 58.7 percent of families purchasing more than one insurance product. Accidental, endowment and medical insurances are their main insurance products, the survey indicated.
The education quality in domestic suburban areas is improving, with 88 percent of interviewees considering it convenient to go to school, and 77 percent of respondents satisfied with the existing educational quality.
