With plans to expand local enrolment, China's top universities, Peking and
Tsinghua, both in Beijing, will offer more opportunities this year to Shanghai
students, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported. As planned, Tsinghua will
start to enroll local students for its arts programs this year and expand the
plan to include 55 students for science programs. Peking will enroll 30
students for arts programs and 24 for science programs. Its medical college,
however, is still not open to local students. Besides, Peking will enroll
more than 30 outstanding local students this year without entrance examinations.
Previously, the number has never been more than 20.
